Discovering Shi'i Islam- M.A.Shomali

Discovering Shi’i Islam studies the origins of Shia Islam and its sources, i.e. the Quran, the Sunnah, the reason and consensus. It also studies fundamental doctrines and main practices of Islam. It ends with a brief account of the latest statistics about present Muslim population of the world along with a breakdown of religious affiliations of some countries with a long history of Shia presence therein. Discovering Shi’i Islam represents a sincere commitment to Islamic unity and is hoped to serve as a modest step towards Muslim brotherhood. Indeed, this book echoes the Quranic call for unity which extends to all people of faith to unify their efforts and concentrate on their common ground. Mohammad Ali Shomali is a graduate of the Islamic Seminaries of Qum and has also both a BA and an MA in Western Philosophy from the University of Tehran. He earned his doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Manchester. His publications include: Self Knowledge (1996), Ethical Relativism: An Analysis of the Foundations of Morality (2001) and Shi'i Islam: Origins, Faith and Practices (2004).
