This book details the Kerbala tragedy, an event that took place in 680 A.D.in which the younger grandson of the Prophet of Islam, Hussain (Hussein), was martyred together with all male members of his family with the exception of his sick son Ali, known as "al-Sajjad" or "Zainul-Abideen", as well as supporters whose number did not exceed a hundred. Some historic details say they were 72 in number. This event or incident shook the Islamic world and brought about consequences the details of some of which are dealt with in this book and in numerous other history books. This is an epic of heroism and a living example of the principle of sacrifice, of accepting death willingly for the sake of a worthy cause. The book details the biographies of the descendants of the martyr who are known to Shi`a Muslims as "Infallible Imams." It also contains a Glossry of Islamic Terms which is a must reference for all people who write about Islam or who are interested in embracing this faith.
