Sacred Unity: On the Inseparability of the Qur’an, Mysticism, and Logic- Ayt Hasanzadeh Amuli
In this seminal work, one of the greatest Shi’i mystics and philosophers of the past century, Hasan Hasanzadeh Amuli argues for the fundamental unity of three pillars of Islamic thought: Qur’anic revelation, mystical insight, and logical demonstration.
Drawing from classical Islamic philosophy, the mystical tradition, and his own deep scholarly expertise, Amuli systematically dismantles the perceived conflicts between rational, textual, and spiritual approaches to knowledge. Sacred Unity offers a sophisticated philosophical framework that bridges the divide between reason and revelation, showing how logical demonstration and mystical insight are not opposing forces but complementary paths to understanding divine truth.
Through careful analysis of classical texts and contemporary discourse, Amuli demonstrates how the Qur’an itself employs logical reasoning while maintaining its divine nature. This first English translation makes accessible a vital perspective on Islamic intellectual tradition, one that speaks to ongoing debates about the relationship between faith, reason, and mystical experience. Essential reading for students of Islamic thought, comparative religion, and philosophy, as well as anyone interested in the harmony between rational inquiry and spiritual wisdom.
